Petruchio, the fortune seeker.
Katherina, the shrew.
Is it love at first sight—or war?

Shakespeare's enduring (and controversial) battle of the sexes returns to the Notre Dame stage with a vivid new performance by Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS). Three performances only: February 28, March 1 & March 2. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at Washington Hall on the University of Notre Dame campus.

Comprised of just five actors, AFTLS deftly combines innovative staging with essential props and simple costumes. Each actor shares responsibility for the direction of the play, and performs two or three major roles (as well as several minor ones). Through imagination and collaboration, the cast conjures Shakespeare's immortal words and worlds into being.

Founded in 1975 by Sir Patrick Stewart and Homer "Murph" Swander, AFTLS tours the United States each spring and fall. The troupe is made up of a rotating cast of classically-trained British actors from such prestigious companies as Shakespeare’s Globe, the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and many others.

Filled with wit, wordplay, and romance, The Taming of the Shrew features one of Shakespeare's greatest (and most tempestuous) pairings, and some of his most famed dialogue. Don't miss your chance to experience this electric new staging -- only at the University of Notre Dame.
