Diabetic Support Group & Classes

Starke Hospital offers a full-spectrum diabetes management program with support from certified diabetes educators and clinical dietitians who work closely with your doctor for coordination of care. All classes in the program and open to the public, and some are free. Opportunities are as follows:

Free Pre-Diabetes Classes - 3rd Monday of every month from Noon to 1:00 p.m
Come learn about the risk factors for diabetes and steps to manage pre-diabetes. All are welcome; registration is not required.  Starke Hospital 2nd floor OB Conference Room.

Diabetes Self-Management Classes - Tuesdays 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
This is a comprehensive program to empower you to control your own health. A physician’s order and pre-registration are required. Classes begin at the start of each month and continue for four weeks. Contact Patty Leonard at (219) 772-1183.

Diabetes Support Group - fourth Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. – Noon
The Diabetes Support Group provides a place to share ideas, experiences, and problems related to diabetes. Patients and support people are welcome; the program is free. The group meets in the Second Floor OB Conference Room at Starke Hospital, 102 E. Culver Road, Knox. Contact Patty Leonard at (219) 362-2478 for information.

Individual Appointments
A physician’s order and pre-registration are required. Appoints may be made with either a certified diabetes educator or registered dietitian depending you’re your needs: insulin, injectable, gestational diabetes, continuous glucose monitoring, and nutritional education.
